Day Trip Itinerary
Continue afternoon game drive along the lake shore and floodplain. Visit the hot springs (Maji Moto) and watch for more wildlife. Late afternoon departure from the park and return to Arusha by 6:00 PM.
Depart Arusha at 6:30 AM. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Maasai Steppe and agricultural lands. Arrive at Lake Manyara National Park around 8:30 AM. Complete park formalities at the entrance gate.
Begin your safari in the enchanting groundwater forest. Look for troops of baboons and blue monkeys in the giant trees. Watch for elephants feeding in the forest and listen to the rich bird chorus. The forest is particularly beautiful in the morning light.
Proceed to the lakeshore to view thousands of flamingos (seasonal) and other water birds. Watch hippos in the water and various animals coming to drink. Enjoy a picnic lunch with lake views.
Drive to the acacia woodland area famous for tree-climbing lions. Search for these unique lions resting in the branches of acacia trees (more common in the afternoon but worth looking for). Learn why Manyara's lions developed this unusual behavior.
