Day Trip Itinerary
Begin a scenic 45-minute hike through lush vegetation to Materuni Waterfall. The trail passes through coffee plantations, banana groves, and native forest. Listen to birdsong and learn about local plants from your guide.
Enjoy a traditional Chagga lunch featuring local dishes. Learn about Chagga history, traditional housing, and daily life. Optional visit to a local home. Return to Moshi by 4:00 PM.
Depart from Moshi at 8:30 AM. Drive through banana and coffee plantations to Materuni Village. Meet your local Chagga guide who will accompany you throughout the day. Brief introduction to Chagga culture and traditions.
Return to the village for a hands-on coffee making workshop. Participate in every step: picking red coffee cherries, pulping, drying, roasting over open fire, grinding with traditional tools, and finally brewing.
Arrive at the magnificent 80-meter waterfall. Feel the spray and hear the thunder of falling water. Optional swim in the natural pool at the base (bring swimwear and towel). Take photos of this breathtaking natural wonder.
